Beliefs

Christians at The Church of the Ascension confess this faith:

That God is the Holy Trinity, one God in three Persons, the Father, the Son, the Holy Ghost (or Spirit).
That Jesus Christ is Lord and Saviour, the Son of God, God the Son incarnate in the Man, Jesus Christ.
That Jesus was conceived by the Holy Ghost and born of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
That Christ died upon the Cross as the atoning Sacrifice for our sins.
That Christ’s Passion and Death bring the forgiveness of all our sins through faith in what he has done for us.
That Christ rose from the dead on Easter Day.
That, having completed his earthly mission to restore the human race to God, Jesus ascended into Heaven.
That Jesus Christ will come again at the Last Day to be the Judge of the living and the dead.
That the Gospel (Good News) calls us to repent and assures us of our forgiveness and gives purpose and meaning to our lives.
That the Holy Spirit strengthens us through the Word and the Sacraments, and dwells in us to bring us newness of Life.
That the Bible is the warrant for our hope and confidence, and the source and test of true doctrine in the Church.
That the Sacrament of Baptism lets Christ into our lives, forgives our sins, and incorporates us forever into the Body of Christ.
That in the Holy Communion Christ feeds us spiritually with his very Body and Blood for the forgiveness of our sins and unto everlasting life.
That the Apostolic Succession of Bishops which ordains our priests and deacons assures us of our continuity with the early Church and the whole catholic (universal, Christian) Church.
That the Church show its adherence to the Catholic Faith through its use of the Creeds and its acceptance of the Ecumenical Councils.
That the 39 Articles of Religion are a true Confession of the Christian faith.
That the Church shows its Catholic and Reformation heritage through its use of the King James (Authorized) Version of the Bible in liturgical readings, the 1928 Book of Common Prayer, and the 1940 Hymnal.
That all human beings are created in the image of God and thus are by nature and common grace deserving of life, liberty, and equal dignity before the law from conception to death.
Lastly, the Church of the Ascension is a centrist, classical, traditional, Anglican Church, a “Prayer-Book” Church.

Mission

The Mission of the Church of the Ascension is to bring the Word and the Sacraments to our neighborhood and to offer the Gospel of the forgiveness of sins through Christ; the offer is to all who are called by, and accept his Word of forgiveness and newness of life. We remain a Bible-believing local church that worships the Lord in the beauty of holiness using the King James (Authorized) Version of the Bible (with Apocrypha), the 1928 Book of Common Prayer, and the 1940 Hymnal.

Vision

The Vision of the Church of the Ascension is to bring all those in our purview, especially estranged Episcopalians, and those who have never heard the Gospel, to forgiveness of their sins and to the worship of God, using traditional Anglican liturgy and music. As part of the people of God, we worship the Lord every Sunday on his own Day.
