Thank you for visiting the Church of the Ascension’s home on the Internet.
The Church of the Ascension, a parish in the Diocese of the Mid-Atlantic States of the Anglican Catholic Church, is steeped in history and tradition. Worship services are conducted in The Old Stone Church of Historic Centreville, which was used as a hospital, for both the Union and Confederacy, during the Civil War. Lessons are read from the Authorized (King James) Version of the Bible, worship is conducted according to the 1928 Book of Common Prayer, and hymns are sung from the 1940 Hymnal.
Each Sunday there is a liturgically-correct service of Morning Prayer or Holy Communion alternating at 9:00 AM, and Holy Communion at 11:00 AM. At 11:00 AM there is a nursery, and Sunday School available to families with children (during the school year). After the 9:00 AM service Father Phil conducts an adult Bible discussion group. After the 11:00 AM service has concluded, we would love for you to join us in the parish hall downstairs for light refreshments and conversation.
We look forward to seeing you at the Church of the Ascension!
